Coastview Vineyard is located at a 2300 ft. elevation in the Gabilan Mountain Range on the eastern side of the Salinas Valley. Per its namesake, the vineyard has a view of the Monterey Bay which further influences its cool climate. The soils are decomposed granite with veins of limestone. It is farmed organically and with a high attention to growing quality fruit.
5-6 cold soak, 30% whole cluster, indigenous yeast fermentation. 12 day primary fermentation, with another 12 days maceration. Pressed into a neutral french oak puncheon. Malolactic completed in barrel, 14 month ageing before bottling.
A full bodied, dry Syrah with aromas of black pepper, blackberry, and mocha. Smooth texture on the palate with black currant, leather and tar. Sourced from Monterey County's highest vineyard, this cool climate Syrah shows bright acidity.
